*hides devil horns and tail*
I really dislike the look of this car. Compared to the E90, it looks aftermarket-sourced and cheap. The shape of the headlights is what I really hate the most, they just seem half-completed.

I'm not a fan of it, but most people are.

I tried to give you a star for explaining your position. But Kinja won't let me!
Proof attached. No matter how much I zoom in I still can't get the star to change color.

Either way, I like the e90 waaaaaay more than the E46. It's my least favorite M3.

You like the E46 6MT M3 coupe LESS than the US Spec E36 M3 AT Cabrio???

Thankfully yes, they're price accordingly. I like the sedan much more though.

Our convo just led to an awesome project idea!
Once you graduate and have space for multiple cars you can buy an automatic E36 M3 for next to nothing. You can talk down an already low asking price by telling the owner that the car is terrible and that nobody will buy it but you have the time to modify it.
You can do an MT swap from any E36 junkyard car. I think the M3 used the standard E36 stick.
Then you can take out the back seats, roof, and roof motor to drop weight.
And bang! Cheap M3 roadster!

Hahaha the method you used to talk them down is flawless.
The thing is I'm very lazy and have almost zero mechanical skill.

That's no prob!
Just find an opponaut in your area and give him $300 to do the job!

Hahaha that's a great plan. Either way, when I get out of college and have garage space, E36s will either be shot up in price like E30s or dirt cheap, no matter what the body style. I just love the sedan version of that M3.

Unfortunately for you the only E36 that will ever appreciate is the lightweight version of the coupe and the unicorn sedan - which is the one you want.
There were a few unicorns sold - MT and no sunroof. But good luck finding one at a good price now, let alone by then. Everybody and their uncle wants one. They weigh the same as the coupe and have more space to take stuff to the track.
But on the plus side I don't think E36 coupes will ever appreciate that much. Too common and too slow.

If it had the right engine to begin with I'd be a whole different story, and a lot of people would have very different opinions on the car.
